Dill

The following is in response to Dill by Matt Reed via Blue Lake Review.

“But you have to keep yourself under control because nobody likes a man laughing in a pickle suit.” ~Excerpt from Matt Reed’s “Dill”

This short piece of literary fiction follows a narrator who is describing what it’s like to be in a pickle suit. Okay, so it sounds kind of silly, but the second time I read it I started to get at what the writer was trying to tell me. The character in the pickle suit is trying to speak to his wife who—because he is in said pickle suit—has a hard time understanding what he is saying and their relationship gets into some trouble.

I gather this story is less about pickle suits and more about relationships and the importance of communication in them. A relationship without bad communication is like living in a pickle suit.  Well said Matt Reed.
