A Page Dies—Short #1

An image of the completed manuscript, roughly six pages in total.

In this short story, the unnamed protagonist is the house page of a rich family during what seems like colonial times, though I did not specify the era explicitly. When the city is attacked by a neighboring country, the page decides to take his own life.

The vocabulary words used in this short:

  1. Haughtiness
  2. Discrepancy
  3. Conciliatory
  4. Discerning
  5. Hierarchy
  6. Hypothetical
  7. Garrulous
  8. Furtive
  9. Belie
  10. Instigate

I am not certain when I will have the next short of the project completed—I’ve decided to complete at least 10 on the bases that there are 10 vocabulary words—but I can tell you that I rather enjoyed doing this first short. In the end, the story was formed by the will of the vocabulary words and not my own.
